God had a plan for your health before the first diet book was ever written! Learn how to work WITH your body’s design to achieve your optimal health.

Fit4God’s mission is to help Christians  Optimize God’s Divine Design to Maximize Their Kingdom Purpose.  In other words, we aim to help our fellow believers optimize their health so that they can do their best work for God! Fit4God was founded on two fundamental truths about humankind that come straight from the Bible:

  1. We are created by God according to a Divine Design (Psalm 139:14).
  2. We are charged by God with fulfilling His Kingdom Purpose (Jeremiah 29:11, James 3:13, Matthew 28:19, Colossians 3:23, Romans 8:28, Ephesians 1:11).

The first fundamental truth is that we were created by God according to what we call a “Divine Design.” Psalm 139:14 tells us that we were “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Our bodies were knit together by God’s own hands while we were still in our mother’s wombs. God designed all the “delicate, inner parts” of our bodies. God knew exactly how He wanted us designed, and He knew exactly how each body part should function.

The second fundamental truth is that we were created to obey God and to do his work here on Earth in order to achieve God’s Kingdom Purposes. Jeremiah 29:11 tell us that the Lord has “plans” for us, James 3:13 tells us to do “good works,” Jesus commands us to make disciples of all nations in Matthew 28:19, and Colossians 3:23 tells us “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” In short, work hard at whatever work God gives you to do so that His divine will and kingdom purposes will be achieved!
So would it be logical to say that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in order to carry out the plans that God has for us? Absolutely! This is precisely the message behind “Optimizing our Divine Design to Maximize our Kingdom Purpose.”

God meticulously placed each cell, each nerve ending, each muscle, and each bone in exactly the right spot to create a body that works in an extraordinarily efficient manner. Go look in the mirror and take a minute to contemplate how even the basic functions of your body work. Just think about what it takes for your eye to perceive an image and send it to your brain, which then translates that image into something you can understand in a split second.

All of man’s inventions combined cannot begin to compete with the complexities of one human body. Yet, we often treat man’s inventions better than we treat God’s marvelous creation. Think about it: If we treated our cars the same way we treat our bodies, they would not run for long.

Divine Design
It is truly staggering to ponder the utter majesty of God’s design as seen in the human body. Did you know that our lungs contain 300 million capillaries which, laid end to end, would stretch a distance of 1500 miles? Can you fathom that a human bone is as strong as granite, and that a block of bone the size of a matchbox could support 9 tons of weight? Take a minute to appreciate that each of your kidneys contains 1 million individual filters that purify more than 2 pints of blood per minute. Contemplate the complexity of your eye, whose focusing muscles move 100,000 times a day.

The design of the human body is no accident, and it did not come about by evolutionary chance. Try telling your son that the car you drive was once a giant boulder, but over millions of years it evolved into a precision instrument of handling and speed. He would assume you were losing your mind! Yet, we are being sold the lie that this beautiful creation called the human body originated from a single-cell organism by random chance. Nonsense!

Christians believe that their bodies were designed by the pinnacle of all master creators. The enemy, who seeks to destroy us and our relationship with our Creator, has spent centuries weaving a plan of deceit designed to severely inhibit the use of the body, God’s master creation.

Your car is designed to run on one type of fuel (for the most part). Generally, it will take unleaded gasoline. Try putting diesel in your car’s engine and watch how quickly it stops running. Observe the dwindling performance of your car before it completely shuts down.

Unlike your car, which needs a single fuel to perform well, the human body was designed to operate at a high level when fueled by a wide variety of fuels (foods). God made our bodies highly resilient and capable of performing at a basic level on poor quality fuel, but we were designed to run at peak performance on certain types of fuel. In other words, we can subsist on rice gruel, but we do best on the fuel God designed for us. We can subsist on cereal, chips, and soda, but we do best on the fuel God planned for us. In short, we optimize our Divine Design when we use the correct fuel.

If you feed your body sub-par fuel for a significant amount of time, your performance is going to suffer. Continue to mess with it and you will see the body start to break down. What does this breakdown look like? It generally starts with a few extra pounds and over time leads to obesity.

But weight gain is just the outside manifestation of the problem. Let’s look at the inside – the engine. As we continue to dump poor food sources into our bodies, our systems work overtime to adjust and the results are often devastating. We develop chronic degenerative diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, just to name a few. Did you know that these diseases are virtually non-existent among people who are untouched by modern industrial food, but rather eat according to the Divine Design?

Our fuel sources changed significantly 10,000 years ago with the Agricultural Revolution, and they changed even more significantly some 200 years ago with the Industrial Revolution. Weight gain, obesity, and the diseases of civilization (diabetes, heart disease, and cancer) soon followed. Could these changes be the work of the enemy – a master plan for the breakdown of the maker’s most accomplished creation? You be the judge.

Kingdom Purpose
Jeremiah 29:11 is clear that you were created for a purpose. The Bible is littered with multiple other verses that allude to that purpose. Romans 8:28 tells us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Likewise, Ephesians 1:11 tells us that “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.”

So, is it a stretch to say that our Kingdom Purpose can be inhibited by our neglect of the creator’s Divine Design? Let’s look at some Biblical evidence.

In the Old Testament, the Lord went to great lengths to lay out dietary guidelines. What was the reasoning behind this? Check out Deuteronomy 5:33, which asserts that eating right is commanded “that you may prolong your days,” or Deuteronomy 7:11-15 which says that “The Lord will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Eygpt.” It is interesting to note that studies of Eygptian mummies show that they suffered from most of the modern diseases that our society suffers from. Studies also show their diets consisted of many of the same poor food choices that our modern diets contain.

Let’s also take a look at what the New Testament has to say. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says that our body is “the Temple of the Holy Spirit,” and 1 Corinthians 9: 24-26 instructs us to “discipline (your) body and make it (your) slave.” While it is true that 1 Corinthians 6 is specifically dealing with sexual sin, I believe that its claim that our body is not our own leads to the logical conclusion that God expects us to take care of it in the best possible manner – and that includes the food we provide as fuel.

1 Corinthians 9: 24-26 is quickly becoming one of my favorite passages because it flies in the face of the easy fix. Your television and internet are filled with advertisements and promises of the next miracle diet or super pill that will have you in supermodel shape in no time. Most of us have bought into one of these at some point in our lives because – let’s admit it – we are “the quick fix” generation. This quick fix attitude is another of the enemy’s master plans. God tells us to run hard in the race, but Satan tells us wait for the easy fix. “What’s the rush?” he says with a smirk, “You can always do it tomorrow when it will be easier.” He sneers at us, “Hey, maybe they will have a pill for that by then!”

Folks, hear me! It is a LIE! If you want to fulfill your Kingdom purpose to your maximum potential you MUST make your body your slave. Making your body your slave takes discipline and hard work. It takes commitment and the willingness to take responsibility for your actions. It will require a paradigm shift in the thinking of most individuals. Above all, it will take supernatural help from a Creator who loves you and absolutely wants what is best for you!

Fit4God’s ultimate goal is Optimizing His Divine Design to Maximize our Kingdom Purpose. We believe God is calling his children back to healthy living based on Biblical principles. We believe the enemy has had a stronghold in this area of our lives for way too long, and it is time to take it back through the power of God’s Holy Spirit. What you have read above only touches on the surface of what we hope will be a life-changing experience for all those who choose to take this journey with us.

In order to change, we must learn. Hosea 4:6 tells us that “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” This principle can certainly be applied to food. The enemy is counting on the fact that few of us take the time to learn about what we are putting into our bodies. Our prayer for you is that you will take the time to do an honest evaluation of how you are managing God’s Divine Design. Can you do better? If the answer is yes, then Fit4God is for you. We are going to bring you articles and tips on how to optimize God’s Divine Design. Locally, we are going to make available to you personal trainers that will work with you to take back what the enemy has stolen.
